The Kashrus Council of Lakewood (KCL) tells Matzav.com that it has found serious insect infestation in some heimishe brands of packaged sunflower seeds.
Before eating sunflower seeds, the KCL says, open each seed and check to see if there is webbing (white strands) inside and if the seed looks decayed, crumbling or not whole. If any of these problems exist, the seed should not be eaten.
The KCL said that Rabbi Schwinder of Nuts Galore has removed its sunflower seeds from the shelves of local stores.

what r we allowed to eat now – no berries, no grapes, no nuts. only stones but u must wash them first
How come only the KCL has found serious infestations; there are many large and reputable agencies that did not report such an incident.
It sounds a little suspicous if you ask me.
What is a Heimishe brand? I’m in Australia. Are these from Israel, the USA? are they exported? It would be helpful if people would be more specific
in the shells only or also the shelled variety?
@Issac it means they don’t want to specify brands to avoid hurting their business. Just be carefully.
Mon min ha’shomayim is all that’s left to eat. Ain lanu al mee l”heesha’ein ela al Avinu She’ba”shomayim.
