  1. The passing of Rav Belsky ZL, is a terrible time for Klal Yisrael. perhaps as difficult as the passing of Reb Moshe ZL. Who can pasken on so many complex areas, especially those requiring unusual shimush? His kind, but sharp nature, and clear head, unencumbered by extraneous political biases was a sea of tranquility, in a world torn apart by so many machloksin. His love for all the campers, and playing ball with them and sense of humor was indicative that he was a normal person, who happened to become a gadol. Perhaps one of the first American-born and raised.

I was in the masmidim program years ago, and still remember his shiurim on Menachos. We studied the sugya of kutzo shel yud. He explained Rashi’s kotz and Tosfos’s kotz. He never deviated a kutzo shel yud from learning, halacha and maasim tovim. Who can replace him? Yehei Zichro Baruch.
