The two-time London Marathon winner Mary Keitany has won the women’s New York City Marathon for the first time today. Keitany, 32, beat out countrywoman Kemima Jelagat Sumgong and Sara Moreira of Portugal.
Keitany’s unofficial time was 2 hours 25 minutes 7 seconds, a mere three seconds ahead of Sumgong. It was Moreira’s marathon debut. Meanwhile, Wilson Kipsang of Kenya beat Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia in his first appearance in the New York City Marathon. Kipsang won by seven seconds with an unofficial time of 2 hours 10 minutes 59 seconds. Read more at the New York Times.
