Kerry Confirmed as Secretary of State

kerry1It’s been a long road for John Kerry – 28 years in the Senate, a run at the presidency and a chairmanship of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee-to get to this moment. But on Tuesday afternoon, Kerry was officially confirmed as secretary of state, succeeding Hillary Clinton, who called him the “right choice” for the position.

The foreign relations committee unanimously approved him this morning, and he won the full Senate approval by 94-3. Clinton’s last day is on Friday, and Kerry could be sworn in as early as then. Read more at CBS News.
