kerrySecretary of State John Kerry has criticised Israel’s insistence that the Palestinians publicly declare Israel to be a Jewish state.

Kerry said Thursday that recognition had already been made in UN resolutions and by the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat and it is a mistake for Israel to keep insisting on it as the two sides work towards a two-state peace agreement.

“‘Jewish state’ was resolved in 1947 in (UN) Resolution 181 where there are more than 40– 30 mentions of ‘Jewish state,'” Kerry testified at a Congressional hearing.

“In addition, chairman Arafat in 1988 and again in 2004 confirmed that he agreed it would be a Jewish state. And there are any other number of mentions,” he added.

  1. Isn’t Lurch anxious? I agree Netanyahu’s insistence was a rare gambit. But Commie #1 in the PLO’s insistence that he would never do so, now makes it imperative. That will probably happen 5 minutes after Netanyahu declares Israel a Torah state. Wouldn’t it be grand if both declarations appeared on Purim?

  2. This issue should bother every jew. This is a complete fraud against the very existence of the jewish state and thus the combined futures of many of the jewish people world wide. Kerry is an animal who does not want to be ready for a pluralistic future by time’s deciding factor. And he just might very well become a limit on the very peace that he is trying to “set up”. Trust Kerry today? Not unless you like your baloney right in your face. No thanks.

Sounds like a Purim joke to me.

  4. So if it was already declared a Jewish state by arafaty”s then why cant the new guy confirm it? of course that he won’t is significant mr. kerry! sigh…

  5. I agree. It should shake every Jew b’chol makom sh’hu that an akum publically declares that when Jews identify that the sovereign state in Eretz Yisrael is Jewish IS A MISTAKE. Let us leave aside the fact that we have some internal issues. Eretz Yisrael belongs to the Jewish people. When a gentile starts to say anything different, it is the age-old antisemitism. Can he not see that the facts on the ground – where the Palestinian Authority incites its people against Israel – and make no mistake, they mean the Jews. Remember – they want the PA to be Judenrein!! So don’t buy their lies that they have nothing against Jews, only against Israel/zionists.

Let us have hakaras hatov to Hakadosh Baruch Hu for giving us more freedom to learn Torah and practice mitzvos hateluyos ba’aretz than we’ve had for generations. Let us remember that every day is an opportunity to exhibit ahavas chinam while upholding our cherished Torah. And let us remember that Hashem sends us messages through all kinds of messengers. Let us daven that we will be able to make a kiddush Hashem every day and in this merit, Hashem will allow us to continue to enjoy the gifts that He has bestowed upon us. We have a responsibility to behave in a manner that is only MEKADESH SHEM SHAMAYIM. Our internal affairs are of no business of the AKUMIM. It is only we who can demonstrate by our proper behavior BEYN ADAM l’CHAVEYRO and BEYN ADAM laMAKOM what it means to be an AM HANIVCHAR. It is OUR responsibility. We have plenty of opportunities to reengage our fellow Jews about their Jewish identity.

Our recent history has taught us that to the UMOS HAOLAM we are all the same – Juden – they don’t discriminate when it comes to hating or persecuting. So yes – it is disturbing that a Secretary of State is trying to tell us to cool it with the Jewish identity.
