iraqPresident Obama’s decision to pull all U.S. forces out of Iraq by Dec. 31 is an “absolute disaster” that puts the burgeoning Arab democracy at risk of an Iranian “strangling,” said an architect of the 2007 troop surge that turned around a losing war.

Retired ArmyGen. John M. Keane was at the forefront of persuading President George W. Bush to scuttle a static counterinsurgency strategy and replace it with 30,000 reinforcements and a more activist, street-by-street counterterrorism tactic.

Today, even with that strategy producing a huge drop in daily attacks, Gen. Keane bluntly told The Washington Times that the United States again is losing.

“I think it’s an absolute disaster,” said Gen. Keane, who advised Gen. David H. Petraeus when he was top Iraq commander. “We won the war in Iraq, and we’re now losing the peace.”

  1. As usual an incoherent story from Reverend sun Yung moons Washington Times …with no content, based on a a General who is retired commenting on plans executed by the military, not Obama, to leave after 10 years in the most incompetently planned war in US history that is eating up my tax money- and yours.

  2. Whoever did this is wrong. Whoever continues doing it is wrong, too.

If Bush obligated Obama in foreign policy, how could Obama have renegeg on all of Bush’s promises to Israel as regarding negotiations, borders, etc.?

  4. Not true: The Status of Forces Agreement signed in 2008 allowed for delay of the pull-out depending on conditions in the country and the ability of the Iraqis to take over the security mission.

The Iraqi’s aren’t ready and yet Obama is pulling out, just for political expediency.

  5. I think Obama couldn’t care less if a Iranian imperialist goverment took over the Middle East starting Iran’s Nuclear capabilities. And the Iranian Dictatorship spreading its arms over the middle East, will suit Mr Obama just fine. He’ll pay lip service to the Jews, oh that’s for certain. ”our friendship with Israel is unbreakable” ”we will never succumb to a Nuclear Iran” ”no option is off the table” these are all nice words. And well maybe Obama has shown a better defense concern towards Israel. Providing Israel with weapons, Bush never gave. But his unrelenting passive relationship with the Iranian proxies- Muslim brotherhood which equals Iran, Hamas, Hizbulah. Is trully worrying. He may not support the proxies openly but sheluchoi shel udom kimoisoi. And even sheluchoi shel sheluchoi shel udom is kimoisoi. Passiveness is also dangerous. This is the middle East, there’s no fooling around. And a life is worth alot less in this side of the world. And so Obama’s political decisions starting with Egypt is not a issue to take lightly. Political decisions in the Middle East are way more serious then on this side of the globe.
