The IDF released for publication the names of five of the 13 Golani Brigade soldiers killed in action at the Shejaiya neighborhood in Gaza Sunday morning.
Major Tzafrir Bar-Or, Deputy Commander of Golani’s Reconnaissance Battalion, of Cholon, volunteered for Golani. He served in Lebanon, Judea and Samaria and Gaza. He leaves behind a wife, Sivan, in her eighth month of pregnancy, a daughter aged 13 months, parents and a sister.
Captain Tzvika Kaplan, 28, of Kibbutz Merav, was born and raised in Haifa and studied at the Yavneh yeshiva. He went on to study at the pre-military academy at Eli. He moved with his family to Merav two years ago. He left behind a wife, Adi, and two sons, Elkana, 5, and Nadav, 3.
Sgt. Gilad Yaakobi, 21, of Kiryat Ono, grew up in Kiryat Ono, where he studied physics and computers at Ben Tzvi high school.
Sgt. Oz Mendelovich, 21, of Atzmon. He left behind his parents, Ofer and Osnat, a sister aged 16 and a brother aged 13.
Sgt. Nissim Sean Carmeli, 21, of Raanana. Sean was a lone soldier from Texas, who made aliyah at 16 and joined his two sisters in Israel. He left behind two parents and two sisters.
