shabbos-innovations-shabbos-toilet-paperKosher Innovations has released a new product: Shabbos Toilet Paper. What’s so special about the new Shabbos Bathroom Tissue?

The Kosher Innovations Shabbos Bathroom Tissue replaces the regular roll of toilet paper and hangs within easy reach. Removing the roll prevents accidental tearing on Shabbos.

On Shabbos and Yom Tov, there’s no issue with their tissue, you might say.

“It’s pre-cut 2-ply toilet paper in a unique box,” Kosher Innovations tells Matzav.com. “It pulls easily from the box just like facial tissue, but unlike facial tissue, it is sized just right so it’s easier on the toilet. Each sheet of bathroom tissue is precut so there is no possibility of tearing. Our newest Shabbos Bathroom Tissue is made from softer and stronger paper and features new artwork on the boxes.

People have been asking for the Shabbos Bathroom Tissue, Kosher Innovations tells us.

Kosher Innovations actually stopped manufacturing its original Shabbos Bathroom Tissue a while ago with no plans to bring it back.

“Since then,” Kosher Innovations says, “many people have called us asking if we could make more. We try to make our customers happy, so not only did we bring back the Shabbos Bathroom Tissue, this new version is also softer and comes in attractive boxes with photographic nature designs.

The Shabbos Bathroom Tissue comes in an elegant, sturdy dispenser box. The durable cardboard material won’t break off of the roll holder and is strong enough to withstand heavy use, even by children. Each multi-pack contains four attractively designed boxes to complement any bathroom decor.

The Shabbos Bathroom Tissue is pre-cut so there’s no tearing on Shabbos. The decorative dispenser box clearly indicates to you, your family and your guests that this bathroom tissue is made especially for Shabbos.

HALACHIC IMPORTANCE

The most important and often overlooked part of bathroom preparations is making sure that you don’t mistakenly tear any paper on Shabbos. This relates to the prohibited melacha of mechatech. Some people pre-tear their toilet paper and fill a basket with it. This is fine if you want to spend the time and effort, but it often ends up with scraps of paper underfoot and wasted toilet paper. It’s also very hard to keep the pile of toilet paper looking neat and staying in the basket.

Some people use facial tissue. Many brands of facial tissue have sheets of paper that are attached by tiny perforations. This means that when you pull out a tissue, you are actually tearing the two sheets apart. There are a few brands of facial tissue that do not have perforations but they are often very expensive and the large size of the tissue sheets are often wasteful.

The Shabbos Bathroom Tissue from Kosher Innovations avoids the prohibited melacha of mechatech on Shabbos. It does not tear, because each sheet is individually pre-cut and folded. And since each sheet is the size of two toilet paper squares, you only take what you need, reducing wasted paper and saving you money. Most importantly, when you replace the regular toilet paper roll with Kosher Innovations Shabbos Bathroom Tissue, you are preventing other people from accidentally tearing on Shabbos. This is true especially for children and any guests you may have who are unaware of the prohibition.

  1. I’m not at all connected to the kosher innovation company but it seems to me that you left out the most important problem with using facial tissues for this purpose. Facial tissues are designed to remain intact when wet to help you better battle your runny nose. Toilet tissue is designed to disintegrate when put into water so that it won’t clog the plumbing system. Try it. Put a piece of each in a cup of water, let stand for a minute and then stir the “mixture”. Be kind to your pipes and sewer system!

  2. It is so good that we can live a good life and not be inconvenienced by the bathroom on our day of rest. That was a long time coming huh?

  3. “The most important and often overlooked part of bathroom preparations is making sure that you don’t mistakenly tear any paper on Shabbos.”

so important and the Shulcah Aruch doesn’t mention it. Must be it was so pashut to the mechaber that he didn’t want to waste his time and paper to write it.

  4. There was a great interview with the owner of beckovations on the zev brenner show on 11-26-11, which also creates kosher innovations type products....it seems they're going to be coming out with other new products. It's great to see many great new produc

  5. Are peole so lazy that they can’t cut their own toilet paper before Shabbos? Give the chore to one of the kids.

#15, it says it’s in a box, not on a roll.

about the tissues being hard on the plumbing, I’d like to explain it. Years ago a plumber told me that people who use tissues for their toilets (I assume unless they have commercial plumbing) they end up with a longterm sewage/septic tank problems. The tissues don’t disintegrate and can cause a home a huge plumbing bill later on (speaking from experience, we had that problem when we moved into our home and had a disgusting mess left in our sewage from the previous homeowners. The plumber blamed it on using tissues.)

Hatzlocha to the new company. In our home, it’s an erev Shabbos job to cut toilet paper (and erev Yom Tov we cut foil and paper towels too.)

  9. I am sorry, but on an issue of such vital importance to us all it really behooves us to check the Hechsher on this product. A number of questions arise.

    1) What color stickers are being affixed to the Kleenex box, neon green or orange?

    2) Will it also have an O-U in addition to the stickers?

    3) Will it come in a Milchige and separate Fleishige version?

    4) Is there ANY Shaila at all about Issur Shatnez?

    5) Will the price be right? Will it be exorbitant to purchase, and therefore give the buyer extra S’char and Z”chusim for supporting ITLICHE MISHPUCHIS from these purchases?

I AM SORRY, BUT UNTIL THESE Q’S ARE ANSWERED, I THINK I’LL STAY WITH MY PRE-TORN TISSUES.
