Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer said Wednesday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that President Obama’s long-held promise to close the Guantanamo Bay detention facility makes no sense, given the rate of detainees who end up again plotting against the United States.

“This whole thing is completely illogical. In all of human history, people have taken prisoners of war, and then they hold on to them until the war is over,” Krauthammer said, adding, “It’s not really rocket science. It’s because otherwise they will rejoin the battle.”

Krauthammer argued that while the president is trying to fulfill a campaign promise, the need for Guantanamo Bay outweighs President Obama’s rhetoric.

“It’s the one place we may need in the future if we capture a terrorist, and we want information,” he said. “There’s a reason for a place like Guantanamo, no reason whatsoever to shut it… Why are we doing this?”

  1. And so he goes!
    Mr. Krauthammer, is Obamacare logical?
Bengazi? IRS scandal? The stimulus, the growth of the national debt, his outrageous vacation trips, our image in the eyes of the world, the slimming down of our military, his reactin to things ie. Trayvon Martin and the list goes on!
I say that it’s illogical that Americans have elected him, reelected him and that he has not been impeached!
