Ivanka and Jared flew on Air Force One together with US President Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia on Friday, landing after the start of Shabbos on Friday night. However, they did not state which rabbi had given them permission to do so.

Kehilat Yeshurun Rabbi Haskel Lookstein said on Sunday that he was not the rabbi who gave Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner permission to fly on Air Force One on Shabbat (Sabbath), calling the rumors “fake news”.

Rabbi Lookstein is the rabbi who converted Ivanka in 2009, prior to her marriage to Jared Kushner.

According to Yediot Ahronot, Lookstein told Opposition Leader Yitzhak Herzog that he has not been in touch with Ivanka for “several weeks” and the information was false. Read more at ARUTZ SHEVA.

  1. L’maaseh there are enough Rabbonim to consult who could have given them a heter. The headline makes it seem like Ivanka (and Jared) have only one Rabbi to consult. (“Her Rabbi”). In addition Jason Greenblatt, also an Orthodox Jew (whose children attend Yeshiva), also went on the plane. I have no doubt he asked his Rov if he was allowed to.

  2. I guess they used a Rabbi with a security clearance who does not talk!! Just wondering why is it anyones buisiness what Jared and Ivanka do.

  3. Now that they have moved to DC, the Kushners have a new shul where they doven, and, presumably, a new Rabbi.

  4. It was reported in the past that they have a connection to the Lubavitcher shtiebel near where they live now. And Jared went to the ayhel of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe before the election.

So why is it being made here as if Reb Lookstein is their Rabbi, if they moved to Lubavitch?
