Lakewood: Reward Offered in Hit ‘n Run Incident of Chaveirim Member
Lakewood, NJ - Moshe Guttman, age 24, a volunteer member of Lakewood Chaverim*, was helping someone on the side of the road when he was severely injured by a hit ‘n run driver.
The volunteer underwent surgery at the Trauma Center of Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. His injuries included a fractured skull and several broken bones.
The Lakewood Police and Township officials are asking for the public’s help in apprehending the hit ‘n run driver. Police are looking for a white or light-colored Astro van, years 1990-2005, with front right side passenger damage.
Officials will also be announcing the amount of the reward, probably $5,000 or more.
“It is an outrage that a chessed volunteer, some one helping the public, gets slammed by someone who made off without even checking to see what happened. It’s a disgrace,” a local official remarked to Matzav.com.
