Lakewood Event with Rabbi Gavriel Sassoon Cancelled


gavriel-sassoonLakewood, NJ – A kinnus chizuk v’hisorerus that was to feature Rabbi Gavriel Sassoon tomorrow night has been cancelled.

The gathering was to be held at Bais Medrash Ohel Shulamit on Spruce Street in Lakewood, NJ, with the participation of the roshei yeshivah and other rabbonim, and a special address delivered by Reb Gabi Sassoon, who got up from sitting shivah in Brooklyn, NY, this morning following the tragic passing of his children, Eliane, 16; Rivkah, 11; Sara, 6; Dovid, 12; Yehoshua, 10; Moshe, 8; and Yaakov.

All of Klal Yisroel are davening for his wife, Mrs. Gayle Sassoon, Gila bas Frances, and his daughter, Tziporah bas Gila. spoke to the event organizers, who advised us that tomorrow’s event – which was expected to be attended by many hundreds of men and women – has been called off. It is not yet clear if the event will be rescheduled after Yom Tov.

In unrelated news, the Sassoon and Jemal families have established a charitable fund that will assist parents who are struggling with extreme financial burdens so that they can pay yeshiva tuition. The Sassoon Children Memorial Fund has no overhead or expenses and is being guided by community rabbonim.

  1. For the life of me, I cant understand why Matzav & others feel the need to publish that picture of Rabbi Sassoon in his moment of most extreme personal pain!!! Did anyone ask him Rishus if they can publicize such a picture??? If Chas Vishalom any of you would have a similar tragedy, would you want the whole world to see such a picture of you??? Where is the Tznius? Where is the eidelkeit? This is unacceptable! Everything has to be pictures pictures pictures! We have totally lost our sense of sensitivity! For shame! If the editors of Matzav had any sensitivity, you would remove it immediately.
