Lakewood Events Tonight Cancelled, Lakewood Reception Tomorrow for Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel to Take Place as Scheduled

rav-nosson-tzvi-finkelOne of the highlights of the year for Lakewood talmidim of Yeshivas Mir-Yerushalayim is the annual visit by the venerated rosh yeshiva, Rav Nosson Tzvi Finkel, to Lakewood.

This year’s visit is scheduled for tomorrow morning, and Matzav.com has confirmed that despite the snowstorm, tomorrow’s program will take place as scheduled.

Tonight in Lakewood, several events, including the Stoliner Alumni Melava Malka at Yeshiva Ketana Hall, the Yeshiva Ner Moshe (Rav Avrohom Gruwicz) Melava Malka at Rav Rosenblatt’s Yeshiva, the Yeshiva Shaar Hatalmud (Rav Nechemya Kaplan) Melava Malka at Khal Zichron Shneur and the Pirchei Melava Malka at Bais Faiga Hall were all called off due to the weather.

Tomorrow, Rav Nosson Tzvi will meet a large contingent of talmidim of the yeshiva. He will be coming directly from the airport and will arrive at Bais Faiga Hall for Shacharis at 7:45 a.m. The talmidim will have the opportunity to daven with him and then hear divrei chizuk following davening.

A breakfast reception will take place later that morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Yankie Judowitz, located at 144 Adelaide Place, off Hope Road. The event is being co-hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Chananya Pomerantz. The rosh yeshiva will address talmidim, friends and supporters who will gather to be mechazek the yeshiva.

The rosh yeshiva will remain in the New York area for the remainder of the week, meeting talmidim and supporters of the yeshiva. Benefit receptions in New York City are scheduled to be held in Battery Park by Meridian Capital and on the Upper West Side by Mr. and Mrs. Cary Wolchok.

The rosh yeshiva‘s host during the week will be Mr. and Mrs. Tzali Edelstein. The rosh yeshiva‘s regular host, Reb Mendy Horowicz, will be making a wedding during the week of the visit and the rosh yeshiva will honor the baalei simcha by taking part in the chasunah.

The rosh yeshiva will spend Shabbos Parshas Mishpatim in the Edison/Highland Park area at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Yossi Stern.

  1. I happen to know Reb Mendy and he’s an outstanding askan and talmid chochom – he’s mamash unbelievable. Mazel Tov on this wonderful occasion! May you see nachas from your family and extended family!

  2. Anonymous #3 ought to get his priorities right. Does he really think that his precious Chinese Auction cannot be postponed until the weather improves?

    Better he should spend his time shteiging until the thaw sets in.

  3. I happen to live in flatbush and have witnessed the gracious hosts Reb Tzali Edelstein and his choshuv Rebbetzin open their beautiful home many times…not just this once. So to say that they are not the “regular hosts” would be false and actually a lack of hakaros hatov to them because in fact they have hosted Reb Nosson Tzvi many times and their home is always open to guests of all walks of life.
