Lakewood: Isaac Akerman Celebrates Siyum On Final Day As Mayor

isaac-akermanLakewood, NJ – Isaac Ackerman, who served as mayor of Lakewood, NJ, for 2013 and is now the deputy mayor, made a siyum on Maseches Beitzah at Yeshivah Medrash Chaim in Lakewood on Tuesday, the final day of his mayoralty, a position now filled by Menashe Miller.

  1. It was a great kiddush Hashem. The mayor said at the siyum that when he entered office he made a kabbalah that any spare minute he had between meetings, he would go to his car where he kept a gemara, and use those few minutes to learn. In this way he was able to finish the entire mesechta!
    The mayor said, emotionally, that although he’s made siyumim before, this one held a special place in his heart.
    The Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Gettinger compared it to R’ Zelig Reuven Bengis who also had a special simcha in making a siyum in shas from the spare minutes he had here and there.
