Lakewood, NJ – A Jackson man on the Megan’s Law registry of offenders faces charges of luring and child endangerment after Lakewood police say he attempted to lure two teenage girls into his truck.
Nicholas Ravailoi, 29, is in Ocean County Jail in lieu of $300,000 bail after officers arrested him this morning.
Lakewood Police Officer Robert Meyer responded at 8 a.m. to Pinemere Avenue after a parent said a man in a black pickup truck approached her 14-year-old daughter and attempted to lure her into his truck.
According to police, the man beckoned her several times, but the girl feared for her safety, ran home and alerted her mother.
A source close to the investigation said Ravailoi attempted to lure the 14-year-old with the promise of a job that would “pay her a lot of money.”
A short time later, another another Lakewood officer, Officer Richard Stanick, responded to Kimberly Drive for a similar report involving a 15-year-old girl.
While Stanick gathered additional information, Meyer found the vehicle, a black 2000 Nissan Frontier, and Ravailoi in the area of Hope Chapel Road and Country Club Drive.
Ocean County Prosecutor spokesman Al Della Fave commended Lakewood officers’ response, which he said was key to making the arrest quickly
“This is tremendous effort by Lakewood police officers,” he said. “The minute they got the report, they all converged on the area, pretty much closing off the area where he could not leave without them locating him.”
The officers, as well as detectives from Lakewood and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office interviewed Ravailoi. Officers also found that Ravailoi was a convicted Megan’s Law offender from a 2006 incident in Jackson.
