lkwdcarnivalrabbonimletter[Letter below.] Lakewood, NJ – In response to advertisements regarding a carnival slated to be held today in Lakewood, the rabbonim of the town have issued a letter strongly urging the members of the kehillah to refrain from participating in the event, which is open to the public, both men and women, with no safeguards to protect the kedushah of the community.

The event, advertised as the “First Annual Lakewood Community Fair Rides,” presents serious concerns relating to modesty, and therefore the rabbonim have stated that kehillah members, including young children, should refrain from attending.

The letter, obtained first by Matzav.com, includes the signatories of the roshei yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, Rav Malkiel Kotler, Rav Dovid Schustal and Rav Yeruchem Olshin; Rav Matisyahu Salomon, mashgiach of Beth Medrash Govoha; Rav Yaakov Forchheimer, Rav Shmuel Meir Katz and Rav Osher Chaim Lieberman, poskim of Beth Medrash Govoha; Rav Yitzchok Sorotzkin, rosh yeshiva of Mesivta of Lakewood; Rav Yosef Zimbal, rov of West Gate; Rav Shmuel Blech, rov of Khal Anshei Sfard; Rav Mordechai Rosenbaum, rov of Khal Shaarei Torah; Rav Yisroel Reisman, rov of Chateau Park-Ashkenaz; Rav Avrohom Miller, rov of Bais Medrash Kol Yehudah of Brook Hill Estates; Rav Aharon Walkin, rov of Bais Medrash Bais Aharon; Rav Binyomin Zev Halpern, rov of Khal Bais Halevi; Rav Aharon Zuckerman, rov of Khal Zichron Pinchos; Rav Shlomo Gissinger, rov of Khal Zichron Yaakov; Rav Moshe Shimon Wosner, rov of Chateau Park-Sefard; Rav Yaakov Lazewnik, rov of Presidential Estates-Ashkenaz; Rav Shloime Lowy, rov of Presidential Estates-Sefard;  Rav Henach  Shachar, rov of Bais Medrash of East End; Rav Yosef Greenfeld, rov of Bais Medrash of Chestnut; Rav Chaim Mayer Roth, rov of Sterling Forest-Sefard; Rav Avrohom Abba Freundlich, Bais Horaah of Chestnut; Rav Mendel Rabinowitz, Yeshiva Ketana of Lakewood; Rav Chanoch Saltz, posek at Beth Medrash Govoha; Rav Avrohom Spitzer, Skverer Dayan of Lakewood; and Rav Mordechai Bezalel Klein, Satmar Dayan of Lakewood.

  1. I agree 100% with the Rabonim
but why are boys home for so long in the Summer?
we should scarp the July Yeshiva and give the kids day kamp or give them till the end of July Yeshiva. There is no reoson why boys have to be walking the street for nearly 3 weeks

  2. As soon as the ad went up without the Org. that officially were getting the profits using their name I didnt like it. If you dont want your name associated dont support it.

  3. WHat should our hanhaga be regarding all carnivals even chol hamoed ones that do not have seperate hours for men and women boys and girls

  4. Thanks to those Tzadikim.

Are we not seeing messages from Hashem? The status quo is no good! Free from any hashgocha ‘do as I wish” attitude.
Get real people, it’s the three weeks!

  5. Thanks, mods. I really didn’t know anything about this carnival, don’t want to or need to, not in the area. But when I saw the breadth of rabbanim who signed, well, anyone who has an issue can certainly find one of them to contact personally about this.

  6. “Matzav” should change it’s name to “Cover Up”,
I never realized how dumb you people at Matzav are! How little you have to offer! ‘
Very good! Keep it up, you losers!

  7. All those who tried to post hateful comments, as well as the uncomfortable situations Matzav keeps finding itself in, point to the fact that “the ONLINE voice of TORAH JEWRY” is placed in a very difficult position.

  8. Go ahead, keep up deleting comments, it just makes everyone laugh at your one-sided posts and run the other way, which is where I’ll be!!

  9. matzav is doing the right thing. vehameivin yovin.

for those who understand, there are no questions. for those who don’t, there are no answers.

MATZAV, STAY STRONG! DON’T WILT UNDER THE PRESSURE!

  10. See Bais Haleivi on Bitachon, page zayin: ve’al kein keshein lehadam shum sibah lehishtadel etc.

    check it out.

  11. This site is so extreme to cater only to what the editor wants to read! All comments that don’t reflect their closed minded stuck up views get deleted or altered. How can any open minded human being read and take in the content from such an extremely opinionated editorial crew. Shame on this news site

  12. i am impressed at least that matzav allows comments bashing them like there’s no tomorrow

people need to chill a bit

  13. It finally happened – I got deleted by the moderator. I’d better watch my step 😉

For a non-controversial recap of part of the post – read Rabbi Zelig Pliskin’s “Love your neighbor.” This sefer is the “sequel” to “Guard your tongue” which started the “Lashon Hara revolution,” and it deals with all of the mitzvos bein adam l’chavero arranged by the parsha in which they occur. Maybe we can start a second mass movement based on being kind to people according to the Torah’s guidance.

  14. there are plenty of carnivals and street fairs in New York City. I Also we have freak shows here in Coney Island.

  15. To whom it may concern. There was a famous book written many years ago by George Orwell titled “1984”.
Shame on you Matzav, and shame on whoever is pressuring you to censor your comments.

  16. To Bob Barker: I don’t know what your issues are with this. This wasn’t my party and B”H I have no temptation to go to a website that will give me all the dirt, real and imaginary. But why not call one of the signatories and have a good conversation? Are you more bent out of shape about the letter or Matzav’s editing?

  17. i would add that the Rabonim assured it too becuase its so expensive. I took my 2 kids and it cosed me 60.00 There are many yeshivalite that are pressured by kids to take them there but cant afford it. Its genavah to charge so much. Im sure many paerents are happy to have a good excuse now.
