lakewoodLakewood Police Chief Robert Lawson and Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein, public safety liaison for Lakewood Township, have notified us that because of the viewing of Officer Christopher Matlosz, drivers should expect traffic delays, possible road closures, and some detours if they are driving on Route 9 North in the area of the Lakewood/Howell border between 1 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. today, January 19.

Tomorrow, January 20, beginning at 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m., due to the large funeral scheduled for Officer Matlosz, the public can expect heavy traffic delays, detours, and street closures throughout the Lakewood downtown area.  The public can also expect road closures in the area of New Hampshire Avenue, Route 70, and Massachusetts Avenue between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Lakewood Court has been canceled for tomorrow. Anyone who has a court date will be contacted by the court to set a new date.

In the downtown area tomorrow, many stores will be closed. The Co-op Supermarket (NPGS) will be close from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., at which time it will open for the night.

Inclement weather is expected as well, so residents would be wise to take care of their shopping needs today.
