kimball-medical-center-lakewood-njBarnabas Health announced today that is would be merging Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ, with Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and renaming it “Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus.”

The healthcare provider said in a release that doing so would help it better provide “high-quality, efficient healthcare to the communities in the region,” while also establishing a stronger healthcare delivery model for the future and expanding outpatient services to better manage the health of the populations served.

Barnabas Health said the merger – which includes an $11 million investment for capital improvements – would give patients who live near Kimball Medical Center, seamless access to Monmouth Medical Center’s specialty services, particularly geriatrics, oncology and neurology.

The alignment of the two hospitals actually began several years ago, Barnabas Health said, when the hospitals collaborated on several strategic partnerships. And during the past two years, Kimball also expanded women’s and pediatric services in partnership with Monmouth.

Because Kimball only delivers 16 percent of Lakewood’s babies each year – compared to the more than 50 percent of Lakewood babies who are delivered at Monmouth – all newborn deliveries will be directed to Monmouth or Community Medical Center in Toms River beginning May 1 instead if Kimball.

  1. Do you think reporting on a hospital merge in Lakewood is more important than listing Hadlokas Neiros Erev Shabbos in Lakewood? In my opinion its more important for your average viewer in Lakewood, to be aware of the zmanim than the above article(and we can’t rely on the new york or philly zman, it’s several minutes difference).
