Laniado Hospital in Netanya Urgently Needs One Hundred Baby Bassinets

Laniado Hospital, Netanya’s only major medical center, has issued an urgent appeal to Matzav readers to help it purchase one hundred baby bassinets for its Maternity Department. Last year, Laniado recorded 7,723 births and the number continues to rise annually, necessitating an urgent need for medical equipment and all things baby.

A world-class hospital in one of the fastest growing cities in Israel, Laniado first opened its doors on June 21, 1976 with the birth of its first baby in the Maternity Department. The annual birth rate that year was 868, but has now risen to nearly 8,000 and the Maternity Department is bursting at the seams. A new $8 million Birthing Center is under construction, the fifth building on the Laniado medical campus but its projected completion date is more than a year away.  In the meantime, the hospital urgently needs bassinets to house their newborns.

A not-for-profit hospital, Laniado is known for its cutting edge medical care and devoted staff, attracting women from around the country who wish to give birth at the hospital. “Laniado is one of Israel’s leading hospitals in terms of the number of annual births, and is known around the country for its special caring environment and the unique attention each patient and their family receives,” explains Dr. Aryeh Simmonds, Division Chief of Laniado’s Department of Neonatology.

American Friends of Laniado Hospital has launched a campaign to acquire one hundred of the latest model baby bassinets for the hospital’s Maternity Department by August 15, to cater to the increased number of births.  We want to help the hospital accommodate the increasing number of births, while they are waiting for the completion of their spacious new Birthing Center in 2016.
