Lawyers for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl said an army officer presiding over his preliminary hearings recommended no jail time—or even a punitive discharge.
They also say that the officer recommended his trial be moved to a lower status that gives a maximum penalty of one year in prison. Bergdahl is facing charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.
The recommendations, which have not been made public, now go to a four star general who will make the ultimate decision about how the case will be handled. Read more at ABC News.
