With the approach of the traditional pilgrimage to Poland by Lelover Chassidim to mark the yahrtzeit of Rav Dovid of Lelov zt”l, the Lelover Rebbe has issued instructions to his followers.

He has asked the Lelover bochurim not to enter the duty-free shop – a popular stop for overseas travelers – and to learn Torah for a minimum of 10 hours during their stay in the town of Lelov, Poland. Those who follow these directives will receive $120 from the Rebbe.

In addition, the names of those who follow the Rebbe’s directives will be entered into a raffle for the full value of their plane ticket.

The trip on 7 Shevat to Lelov for the yahrtzeit is a tradition of many decades for members of the Chassidus.

  1. So, let me get this correct!
Each bochur who does not go into a duty-free store and learns at least 10 hours while in Lelov gets $120. (Sounds like a kinder shpiel to me!)
Part 2) Each one, however, who does though – I guess go into such a store – will be entered into a raffle to cover the expense of his ticket!

  2. Itzik: “In addition, the names of THOSE WHO FOLLOW THE REBBE’S DIRECTIVES (i.e. don’t go into the stores, and learn 10 hours) will be entered into a raffle for the full value of their plane ticket.
