levi-aronLevi Aron pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Supreme Court today to last year’s killing of eight-year-old Leiby Kletzky.

Aron kidnapped Leiby in July 2011, while the boy was walking home from day camp.

When he is sentenced on August 29, Aron faces 25 years to life in prison for second-degree murder and an additional 15 years for second-degree kidnapping.

Aron previously pleaded not guilty to killing Leiby but then reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

State Assemblyman Dov Hikind says prosecutors struck the plea deal in close consultation with the Kletzky family.

  1. I struggle to understand how this killer was offered a deal where he gets to keep his life. Leiby didn’t get that opportunity.

  2. #2-It seems that the DA had a strong case, especially that Aron would unlikely have an insanity defense since he said that he “panicked,” and an insanity defense requires not knowing the difference between right and wrong.

  3. @#2 the family wanted this. There are facts that even they havent seen and they dont want to relive it. Better to put him in jail and let the other inmates take care of him

@#3 This is a sad fact. Rubashkin is a travesty. This is a tradgedy.

  4. #2, he didn’t “get to keep his life”. NY does not have a death penalty. He was never in danger of execution.
Also, “25 to life” means that a judge decides what he gets, somewhere between those 2 numbers. He could easily get 50 years.

  5. Can someone PLEASE explain to me why matzav is constantly posting the pictures of ‘reshaim'(criminals, etc)?? Do we really need to look at these faces???
