avigdor-liebermanIsraeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu has sent his condolences to the families of those killed in the robbery in Beer Sheva today, calling the heist a huge tragedy.

“I can’t remember events like this – at least not in recent years. We can’t let a terror attack like this happen again,” he said.

“Something like this is so disgusting, we cannot just let it pass,” Yisrael Beytenu chief Avigdor Lieberman said, stating that battling crime is like battling terror. “We have to reach the right conclusions so these events don’t happen again,” Lieberman remarked.

An initial investigation into the murder of the four people at the Hapoalim Bank branch revealed that the perpetrator, a Jewish resident of the city, himself, was out for revenge after the bank did not agree to reach a settlement over a NIS 6,000 ($1,640) debt. According to police, the man visited the branch in the morning hours, and, after his request was denied, he returned to the bank a few hours later and shot the four people dead. Police are also checking whether the man, a former Border Guard officer of about 40 who also worked for the local municipality, was in financial difficulties.

An eyewitness said the gunman “shot every man who sat next to me twice. One got two bullets in the back. No one tried to resist, they were all on the ground. Someone who lied on top of me, after he was shot, saved me.”

  1. How come the killer’s background is not mentioned? Was he a Chiloni? If it was a Chareidi, the media would plant the fact all over the place! Remember Yigal Amir? The hateful media had a field day with the fact that he was “Chareidi”!
