An iOS bug is causing iPhones’ Messages app to crash or reboot after receiving a specific string of text.
The bug appears to exploit the app’s preview feature’s inability to render the characters, which are neither alphanumerics or emoticons. If received while the phone is on the lock screen, the entire phone reboots.
An Apple spokeswoman said in a statement, “We are aware of an iMessage issue caused by a specific series of unicode character and we will make a fix available in a software update.” Read more at 9to5Mac.
