A man attempting to smuggle 53 shofaros and 40 esrogim from Morocco in two suitcases through the area for passengers who do not have anything to declare at Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv was busted over the weekend.
Traveleres going through customs at Ben-Gurion Airport are permitted to bring one esrog after it is approved by the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry or a customs official.
The traveler who was caught is a 50-year-old resident of Bayit Vegan, Yerushalayim.
Travelers generally try to smuggle items past customs in order not to pay import duties.
