rav-aharon-leib-shteinmanFunding cuts affecting mekomos haTorah and governmental decisions requiring chareidi men to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces will ultimately benefit the chareidi community, Maran Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Orchos Torah, said in his divrei chizuk delivered at the annual Lev L’Achim asifa held in Bnei Brak yesterday.

“We must know that everything that Hakadosh Boruch Hu does is His ratzon, and His will is what will be. That is true now as well,” said Maran.

“We have to work on emunah. In the end, it will all turn out well,” he said.

Rav Shteinman referred to the current coalition in Israel, which does not include any chareidi-religious parties, such as Shas and UTJ, and the government’s desire to require chareidi men to join the military as two negative phenomenon that will ultimately prove to have been letovah. Rav Shteinman referenced the story Yosef Hatzaddik and his plight after being thrown into a pit by his brothers and ultimately sold as a slave to Mitzrayim. Yosef at the time was not aware of the great salvation that lay ahead. So too, in our time, yeshuos are on the horizon.

  1. it looks like the real yeshua all along has been Medinat Yisrael! – the worlds biggest benefactor of full time Torah study.

  2. Baruch Hashem the harsh rhetoric is coming to an end.
Rav Shteinman is an Ohev Yisroel who represents “darchei Noam”.

  3. the issue of all the off the derech kids who couldn’t make it in such an intense society will bezras hashem start to decrease.

  4. #6,

You must mean the 52% of Modern Orthodox high school kids* who drop Shabbos and kashruth within two years of their graduation, right?

    Those numbers are indeed terrible.

  5. To #2,

You must realize that the state of Israel has the privilege to support Torah study only as long as some of its leaders deserve this merit. Unlike sincere people like Menachem Begin the current roster in the Knesset deserve no such merit. I am specifically referring to the policy makers -we all pray that the Israeli army will continue to have the merit of Torah study to shield the soldiers under all circumstances.

  6. Reading the comment from #5 directed at #2 and that of #10 directed at #6, makes ones feel so sad that people are focusing their attention on belittling and running others down.

Here’s an article from a huge Torah giant, calling out to us to have emunah, unite and stand together as a people and the negative and shameful comments that follow immediately thereafter are EXACTLY what we should be avoiding.
