Hurricane Maria has strengthened into a Category 4 storm as it hurtles toward islands in the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the “extremely dangerous” storm with maximum sustained winds of about 130 mph is expected to pass near the island of Dominica on Monday evening.

A hurricane warning has been issued for Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Dominica and other territories, which are bracing in anticipation of the approaching storm, located just southeast of Dominica. Read more at The Hill.
