A 28-year-old man who was arrested after fatally stabbing a black man in Manhattan on Tuesday has reportedly admitted to police that he traveled from Maryland specifically to kill black people, the New York Daily News reported on Wednesday.
“James Harris Jackson, an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan and is a member of a documented hate group from Maryland, surrendered to cops just after midnight Tuesday,” the Daily News reported based on law-enforcement sources. Shortly after stabbing Timothy Caughman, 66, a random black man Jackson spotted in Midtown, the suspect then turned himself in to police at a Times Square substation, telling them he has a knife in his coat and that he was the slayer.
