The German newspaper Bild reports a masked gunman with an ammunition belt opened fire at a movie theater in Viernheim, Germany, near Frankfurt, today.
Public television has reported that at least 25 people have been wounded and the gunman has barricaded himself inside.
German police spokeswoman Christiane Kobus confirmed a “threat situation” to local reporters but gave no further details, The Telegraph reported. Germany’s interior minister has said the gunman was shot dead. Read more at The Telegraph.
Some reports indicate that some people may have been wounded by the result of a release of tear gas in a confined space. It was unclear if the tear gas was allegedly emitted by authorities or by the suspect.
