Mayor Bloomberg to Light Menorah Tonight at Grand Army Plaza

bloombergThis evening, at 5:30 p.m., New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will join Rabbi Shimon Hecht in Brooklyn to light the first candle of Brooklyn’s largest menorah.

Standing at 32 feet tall, the menorah will be seen by thousands of passersby at the entrance of Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn.

The Mayor and Rabbi Hecht will rise in a Con Edison “cherry picker” to kindle the first light of the menorah and usher in Chanukah. There will be live music, free gifts for the children, and fare distributed to all.
