NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio is on the road again, this time delivering two speeches in Washington, D.C.
De Blasio will be speaking at the National Press Club, followed by an afternoon speech on “the Progressive Agenda to Combat IncomeInequality.”
The afternoon event will roll out a 13-point progressive plan that includes progressive taxation, paid sick leave and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Rev. Al Sharpton will join the mayor at the afternoon meeting to combat income inequality.
Following his trip to Washington, the mayor will head to California.
Some are questioning why de Blasio is traveling to Washington and California for four days instead of staying in New York City to address a recent spike in crime. There were 44 shooting victims last week, a 76 percent increase from the previous week, CBS2’s Diane Macedo reported. There’s also recently been a pair of muggings in Central Park.
