Sen. John McCain blasted President Trump on Tuesday over news that Trump phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin to congratulate him on his recent electoral win.

In a statement, McCain called Trump’s phone call to Putin an insult to “every Russian citizen who was denied the right to vote in a free and fair election to determine their country’s future.”

“An American president does not lead the Free World by congratulating dictators on winning sham elections,” McCain said.

“And by doing so with Vladimir Putin, President Trump insulted every Russian citizen who was denied the right to vote in a free and fair election to determine their country’s future, including the countless Russian patriots who have risked so much to protest and resist Putin’s regime.”

  1. Strangely, I don’t recall McCain criticizing Obama when Obama called to congratulate Putin the last time he won the Russian election.

    • The entire GOP came out very strongly against Obama for his relationship with Putin. Of course, Trump has brought a bunch of libs into the party, so now it is ok to be so friendly with Putin. It is typical of the liberal mentality, to show weakness to dictators.

  2. why can’t moccasin get over the fact that he lost the presidency and he shouldn’t dictate foreign policy to someone else whose a lot smarter and won’t take your advice. Only give advice if someone else will listen espiacally if the deed was already done (maybe he wants brownie points)

  3. Putin and Trump are in excellent relationship and Trump’s congratulatory call is an honor to Russia AND to America. It’s only the American haters like McCain, Democrats and RINOs who hates Trump AND Putin who are upset with the Honorable President’s phone call. SHAME ON YOU McCAIN! Get away already!

    • Wow, amazing. Trump has managed to convert the GOP into uber-libs. In the 2012 presidential debates, Romney attacked Obama for his cozy relationship to Putin, and all the libs went ballistic, talking about how important it is to be nice to Putin. And of course, Limbaugh and Hannity went after Obama for being so nice to Putin. Then along comes Trump, and suddenly everything is topsy turvy. Hannity suddenly thinks Putin is great, while the left thinks we should declare war on Russia. It is only the true conservatives who are consistent- they said Obama is wrong for kissing up to Putin, and they feel the same about Trump.

  4. The chemo’s side effects has had its negative effect on his rational thinking abilty. He’s so wrong! We’ve got to forge working relationships in this tumultuous era.

  5. Poor McCain. He must have not gotten the memo that after 2016, being a good Republican doesn’t mean standing up for conservative values, it means standing up for whatever Trump is doing that day.
