dov-hikindMust be a slow news day for the mainstream media, which got hung up on the Purim costume of New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind.

Hikind wore blackface makeup, an Afro wig, and a basketball jersey to a Purim party, and was questioned about it by CBS Newsradio 880 in New York.

dov-hikindHikind said he meant no offense and doesn’t regret the costume he wore to the party.

His response to CBS 880 was published by the Associated Press.

Hikind’s spokesman said today that the Democrat with 30 years in the state Assembly wasn’t immediately available for comment, but says Hikind isn’t trying to avoid the issue. CBS reported that Hikind hired a makeup artist and wore an orange basketball jersey and sunglasses. He told CBS he never thought the outfit would be offensive.

  1. The problem here is
Many of us are just dressing up
    That’s what I see w/holloween
Why aren’t we seeing queen esther mordachi
    Anyone in the magilla.
    Are we forgetting ?

  2. What would you say if Sharpton dressed up as a chassid?
Better yet what would Hikind say if A designer dressed as one?
On that we have an answer he condmned it rather furiously.

  3. I wonder if Hikind would be offended if some NYC officials were to wear Hasidic garb at their Halloween party. I think he would be. So why the double standard?

  4. Same person who criticized Galliano for dressing like a chasid does this?

The hypocrisy is transparent. Why are you shilling for him?

  5. IMHO, I think that his wife’s costume as the devil is far worse than what he is wearing, anyone else feel the same?

  6. people in such positions may need to be more careful of people watching. he good man n did nothing wrong but mab we all ought to learn that we are jews we all need to behave on smarter level,,,

  7. This goes beyond the borders of poor taste into gross stupidity. I used to respect him even though I disagree with him on a lot of things. Now no more.

  8. Its Purim. Big deal. No offense was intended. No one got offended. Just a big hoopla over a Purim costume?

There’s no comparison to a known anti-semite getting dressed up on a regular day, when no one else dressed up. Had that anti-Semite worn it to a costume party, everyone would be quiet. How dumb can Yankel be?

  9. Media tries to stir the pot!?? Tou’re kidding me, right?

    Concerning Galliano;
“The way the socks look, the jacket, the peyos … My question is, who’s he laughing at?” asked Brooklyn assemblyman Dov Hikind…. Are you mocking us?”

“Isaac Abraham, a Jewish community leader in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, said that Galliano was “trying to embarrass people in the Jewish community…”

So,… now that the shoe is in the other foot, can someone here explain the difference,… or has total hypocrisy become the norm?

So would you feel the same if next October 31st you encountered a group of goyim dressed up in long black coats, black knickers and white knickersocks, wearing glue on-beards and payes, fake fur shtreimelen and carrying pushkes? Would you be quiet then?

  11. If he were a private citizen this wouldn’t matter much. But for a public person, a Jewish politician, to do this, is the height of stupidity and mockery. This lack of seichel makes me wonder about his judgement.

  12. I ASSUME THAT ANY PERSON INVITED TO HIKIND’S PURIM PARTY WOULD BE A FRIEND-SO HOW COULD A FRIEND RELEASE THIS PHOTO TO BEGIN WITH?
