Meir Porush to Quit Knesset as Part of Rotation Agreement


meir-porushDeputy Education Minister Meir Porush intends to submit his resignation to Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin on Thursday, due to an agreement between the Degel Hatorah and Agudas Yisroel parties that make up the United Torah Judaism faction.

Porush will be replaced in the Knesset by the next name on the UTJ list, former MK Yisrael Eichler, who is a Belzer chossid.Current faction chairman Menachem Eliezer Moses intends to run against Eichler for the post of deputy education minister in a vote that will be held in the five-member faction.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised Porush at a going-away party held in his honor at the Knesset today, saying that he proved himself as a man of action, combined with a generous and rich spirit.
