Brooklyn, NY – On Wednesday night, during the drawing of a tzedakah raffle, organizers were in for a surprise. The winner of the grand prize of $18,000 was none other than R’ Menachem Stark z”l, the Williamsburg baal tzedakah and baal chesed who was kidnapped and murdered on January 3rd.
Menachem has bought two raffle books with 50 tickets each for $100 during a Chanukah tzedakah campaign.
Organizers tell JP Uodates that Menachem purchased the raffle from a nephew of his.
The raffle is organized by Keren Chassanim of Bobov, which helps chassanim with marriage costs.
The drawing took place at the Bobover shul located at 4715 15th Avenue in Boro Park. The Stark family was notified Thursday morning.
