bloombergAs reported last night here on Matzav.com, former New York City mayor is pledging to spend $50 million this year to push gun control. For this and other deeds (such as taking on obesity and smoking), Bloomberg believes he’s going to heaven.

“I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close,” Bloomberg told the NY Times.

Here’s the full context of Bloomberg’s heaven quotation:

Mr. Bloomberg was introspective as he spoke, and seemed both restless and wistful. When he sat down for the interview, it was a few days before his 50th college reunion. His mortality has started dawning on him, at 72. And he admitted he was a bit taken aback by how many of his former classmates had been appearing in the “in memoriam” pages of his school newsletter. But if he senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

As for the gun control push, Bloomberg tells the paper he wants gun rights advocates to fear him.

Michael R. Bloomberg, making his first major political investment since leaving office, plans to spend $50 million this year building a nationwide grass-roots network to motivate voters who feel strongly about curbing gun violence, an organization he hopes can eventually outmuscle the National Rifle Association.

  1. I wouldn’t worry if Mr. Bloomberg is ready to go to the gates of the future or not. He really has some obscurity yet he thinks he can use his money to make the world a better place. Because he is not a Torah Jew and does not understand Torah Values, he can spin his wheels. It is ultimately Hashem’s decision who is retained for higher placement and who is kept for a role in a useless direction against the voice of logic and justice. If Mr. Bloomberg is really going to heaven, may it be at the time of Torah and Trust in G-d. But really, I do not think this is a major issue. He is a very confused mind with a confused plan who has not entirely engrossed himself in the only Power in the World. Torah Study.

And on that note, you can indeed pray for a better future. Mr. Bloomberg can be a friend of many and has many options. It is clear that his money must indeed be put to good use and that is what I believe a Just and Dignified G-d would want for anyone with that sort of resource. It is a true era where there are gun issues. Maybe Mr. Bloomberg is indeed a magnificent voice that is going to indeed bring reform. In that case, he will definitely in all ways indeed earn his place in the world to come. What it is is not for me to qualify or be marginally challenged by in my own stature.

But indeed, he has his own private life and his own concerns. Let him do what he can to bring reform. We certainly need more considerations and this is indeed a changing and challenging culture we enjoy.

I would say his investment is probably a blessing and clearly an interest. Will it work against the very strong NRA culture and conglomerate? Is the NRA the source of evil or maybe just a security for Americans? Clearly there are many issues.

So I would think that if you make it to Gan Eden, you probably can call upon Mr. Bloomberg to be your friend. I can not think he is going to go the other way on this event, but clearly he will make a few other people’s lives a bit of h-ll in the mean time. And that might be very funny.

  2. Burger King might give him fries with that. But maybe he can ask for a retainer from Hashem. They do indeed ask for courtesy.

  3. mr. bloomberg they are going to ask you on every derabanan you were mevatel as to why? what will be your answer.

ill send you a postcard to gehennem when i get to heaven

    Kloinimus

  4. This Kofer Be’ikar, Mike Bl$$mberg, is going straight down to Gehenom! This piece of filth will have to pay dearly for his financial acts in bringing Toeivah Marriage to become legal in New York State and elsewhere! His war on Bris Milah will never be forgotten!
He did plant tree’s in Israel in his Mothers honour. He also gave a few dollars to that treiffa “Museum”, Yad Vashem. Other than that, this single guy, Bl$$mberg, did NOTHING to help Yiddishkeit & Torah! He sounds like Bilaam before he died!

  5. “I am telling you if there is a God…” he questions whether or not G-d exists – ie he is a non-believer yet he thinks he can buy or bribe his way in. the man is a fool.

  6. Nebach.

Even reshoim, who recognize the truth, do not repent while on the purgatorial door.

They may be aware of the truth, but by then, its too late for them to change – which causes them immense pain.

While he can probably still do teshuva, it is extremely hard for him to denounce the way he has lived his life for so long. So when he feels his mortality, and has a sense of having wasted so much of his life, he pushes on in the tune $50,000,000.00 to make him feel accomplished. But in 9 months from now, he’ll feel even more miserable. Nebach.

  7. He will not get a place in heaven for his pushing the legitimization of toeivah into law! That kind of thing leads to a spot in a very different kind of place…He will have a rude awakening..

  8. Mike, in Heaven they serve soft drinks lager than 16 oz. Are you sure you belong there? The only time you’ll get to Jeaven is when they take you for a tour of all the tzadokim and Yidden who defied you and did MBP, were mkaayem the mitzvos albeit the difficulties your administration brought about and then you’ll be taken to your deserved place in the roaster!
What a fool! He was the quintessential Maisis Umaydiach!

  9. Bloomberg plus reality can often be a mess, but hey really, if you know Hashem, Bloomberg has a realistic chance to get to even Gan Eden. He is very cross with his own discretion, he is very concerned about what his effect is on humanity and he is very voiced in his own worries about what is right for America. He may not be right. He may not be trusted. But he really is earnest to his own blessings which he thinks he can bring about in his own view a change for a better positive social experience. Hashem loves that someone questions the world he lives in and wants a better world. Look for Mr. Bloomberg to go all the way as a non-orthodox jew can. But still all in all, he did not learn Torah so that he can truly correspond with Hashem. A little bit limited. A little bit scruff. But really a lot of a friendly voice at least in his own way.

  10. These hateful comments are a chillul hashem. Think for a minute. If you wanted a billionaire to support a yeshiva, and he found a page of comments like these somewhere on the internet, do you think he would give a dime?

  11. the man questions if G-d exists and boldly declares that when he dies – he’s in charge of who gets gets in on a pass and who gets judged. he will have to do tshuva on that before he even contemplates donating to a Yeshiva.

  12. To #16:
You sound like an emmesdika fool. This RASHA was the Mayor of the largest Orthodox community in the world for 12 years straight! He NEVER gave anything to any of the Yeshivo’s in HIS city while HE was Mayor! Now that he is out, you think he has any haava amina of giving??? Liberalism is a mental disorder!

  13. Maybe he can still do teshuva. He can join Aish Hatorah or Ohr Somayach in Eretz Yisroel or go to some Gateways or Arachim seminars. He can donate his money to Torah institutions and to the poor of Klall Yisroel. If he thinks being worthy of heaven is only about fighting obesity, smoking and gun control, he is in lala land. I think he is in for a real shock when he leaves this world because he doesn’t have a “hava meena” of reality.

  14. #18, Mah doch Ed Koch, zecher tzaddik vkadosh livracha, is sitting right next to the kisei hakavod, Bloomberg al achas kamah vkamah.

  15. Everyone here is the same as him. He “knows” he is in and everyone here seems to “know” as well. Except here the only criteria seems to be if he “gave money to a yeshiva” (aka: YOU). Moshe Rabbeinu never gave money to a “mainstream” Yeshiva either, does he get Oilam Haba?
