A Michigan man who suffered from a degenerative eye disease that left him blind can now see glimpses of his wife, grandson, and cat thanks to a “bionic eye.”
Roger Pontz is one of four people in America to receive an artificial retina, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved last year. The implant works as part of a system with a small videocamera and a transmitter in a pair of glasses. “It’s awesome. It’s exciting-seeing something new every day,” said Pontz. Read more.
