mikvah-of-rocklandA fire that started in a sukkah on the porch of the Mikvah of Rockland on Viola Road in Monsey, NY, early in the morning of the second day of Yom Tov caused significant damage to the mikvah building, forcing it to remain closed until after Yom Tov. Monsey and Tallman firefighters doused the flames in less than an hour, but the damage was already done.

As Motzoei Yom Tov arrived, the mikvah remained closed due to the damage and the fact that there was no electrical power in the building. Other mikvaos opened to accomodate Yidden of the community.

Mikvah of Rockland is one of the largest and most sophisticated mikvaos of its kind.

The mikvah has since reopened thanks to the tireless efforts of local Monsey askanim.
