depressedIt’s not easy being told you’re perfect and can do anything, only to grow up and find yourself a normal person-living an average life.

A new study by the American Psychological Association finds that the Millennial generation (18-33 year-olds) are more stressed than any other age group. More than 50% of millennials reported having their sleep disrupted by “overwhelming worries” in the past month.

“Many of these young people have come out of college or graduate school with horrendous student debt into a job market where there are not very many jobs,” the psychological group’s executive director said. “This has put their life plans, probably, on hiatus.” Read more here.

  1. This is true!
We tell our kids, “Do it! You can do it! Try harder!” And other like comments of encouragement as if it’s all within their grasp! “You can be the Vilna Gaon, just Vill Nor! Were doing them a big disservice. They can only be as good as they can be! There are tools that not all have!
BUT WHAT SHOULD WE SAY IN THE FORM OF ENCOURAGEMENT?

  2. That first sentence has nothing to do with the rest of the article. What the Millenials want is precisely to live an average life – average for their parents, that is. Instead, their job prospects are dim, they have a huge student loan debt, and the world seems to be sliding downhill just when they’re about to join it. Stress? Depression? I’d say it’s just plain realism.
