marathonIf you are a frum Yid and will be running the 2009 NYC Marathon tomorrow, , you will be able to daven in a warm location and a proper makom tefillah before the race, Matzav.com has learned.

Soveya, an organization providing a Torah approach to health and wellness in the Jewish community, is offering a Shacharis minyan before tomorrow’s NYC marathon.

The netz minyan will start at 6 a.m. (sunrise is at 6:25 a.m.) and will take place at Agudas Shomrei Hadas, located at 98 Rupert Avenue in Staten Island. Following davening, there will be free bagels, bananas and juice provided. There will be a special shiur offered between the end of davening and the start of the race titled “Shmiras Hanefesh, Shmiras Haguf,” given by Rabbi Eli Glaser, director of Soveya.

There will be free transportation from the shul to the starting area and free transfer of tallis and tefillin to a central location in Brooklyn.

RSVP is required. To register or for more information, call 1-888-8-SOVEYA (876-8392) or email [email protected].

To support the minyan or to sponsor Jerry Gross’ run in this year’s race and help end childhood obesity in the Jewish world, email [email protected]. All proceeds will go directly to fund Soveya’s program for Jewish Day Schools called SWITCHH (the Soveya Wellness Initiative To Create Healthy Habits).
