Misameach Brings Joy to Public School Child at CHOP

Misameach is an organization devoted to brightening the lives of sick children and their families through a variety of programs and events, including a fully stocked entertainment library, bedside entertainers and performers, parties, workshops and more.

This week, Misameach brought their cheer and joy to a public school child battling illness, bringing smiles and laughs.

Misameach visits Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on a weekly basis, and sometimes daily. This week, after being informed of a young boy in the hospital, they stopped to visit the boy, Manuel Betancourt, who is battling leukemia.

The third grader, who is a student at the Ella G. Clarke elementary school, located off of Manetta Avenue in Lakewood, NJ, was surprised when close to a dozen Misameach volunteers entered his hospital room. They danced, they sang, they played music, and they had clowns bring merriment to the hospital room as Mrs. Betancourt and Manuel’s sister looked on is utter amazement.

A kiddush Hashem was taking place at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Matzav.com was told that nurses looking on were moved to tears, so touched were they by these altruistic frum young men who had come to cheer a wonderful young boy who is now in the thoughts of all who felt privileged to meet him.

After a half-hour of entertainment, the volunteers presented Manuel with a gift, capping off a wonderful experience brought to fruition by a unique group of fellow Yidden.
