kever-yosefMore than 1,500 mispallelim made their way to Kever Yosef on Sunday night. Soldiers accompanied worshippers to the kever, located in Samaria, near the city of Ariel. Many soldiers also joined in the tefillos. Those who were present said it was an emotionally charged event, and more than a few participants were moved to tears.

Sunday night was a significant night according to kabbolah. The forty-first day of the Omer, Sunday evening, is “yesod shebeyesod,” a level associated with Yosef Hatzaddik.

Sunday’s event was marred somewhat by the state in which Yidden found the kever . Soot marks blackened much of the structure, and its dome had been shattered by Arabs. Several parts of the building smelled strongly of urine.

Samaria Regional Council head Gershon Mesika was present and thanked the IDF for securing the tefillos. He called for a more regular Jewish presence at the tomb, in order to prevent further desecration.

  1. i dont understand how people call the army traif and garbage and are then proud to report that soldiers accompanied mispallim. anybody care to explain?

  2. I don’t understand how it was possible for Jews to give up the area of kever Yosef, so that there is no one there today to take care of the holy tzaddik’s kever.
I remember years ago when there was a yeshiva on the site and beautiful words of Torah echoed through the kever. How could the Jewish government have abadoned his kever and it is now hefker for the two footed dogs to roam there?

  3. To #1, Hakoros Hatov is due to the soldiers. Lets be positive about our Jewish Soldiers, and by being positive about other people, HKB’H may give you this courtesy as well.

V’ahavta L’reiacha Komeicha (we are in the days of Sefira).

  4. To #1, Remember that we are in the days of Sefira, and we must have a positive outlook on our Jewis soldiers. If you have something nice to say, Great. If not, than Siyug L’Chucma, Shtika.
