Mitch McConnell Says No to Garland

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said today that he will not budge on refusing to consider President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland.

“We think the people should choose, as we’ve said repeatedly,” McCconnell said.

Hours later, Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois, a Republican in a tight race with a Democrat for his seat, said he will consider Garland for the high court. Senators Kelly Ayotte, Jeff Flake, Rob Portman, and Susan Collins all said they will meet with Garland. Read more at CNN.

  1. The Democrats and Republicans take turns filibustering each others nominees and then acting outraged when it’s done to their own nominees. Aren’t there any grown-ups in the house (or senate)?

  2. The fed judges should be elected in direct elections. Would also be nice to have some sort of recall election mechanism.
