In the wake of the escalation in rocket attacks on southern Israel over the weekend, MK Yoel Hasson (Kadima) has called on the Knesset to hold discussions about the rocket threat which is disrupting the daily routine of over a million civilians.
In a letter he sent to Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, Hasson placed the blame on the deal to release Gilad Shalit for the latest rocket attacks.
“As perhaps could be expected, and in accordance with the warnings of senior security officials, with the end of the prisoner exchange deal the Kassam rockets and Grad missiles started to interfere with the everyday lives of citizens of Israel,” Hasson wrote. “This time, other cities such as Rishon LeZion and Rehovot are also threatened.”
Hasson pointed out in the letter, “The last prisoner exchange deal, that gave the Prime Minister a lot of popularity, also made Hamas popular. The deal has strengthened Hamas and showed its leaders and supporters and all other terrorist organizations, that Israel has weakened and that terror can dictate the public agenda and how the government and its leader will make decisions.”
With the Knesset slated to begin its winter session on Monday, Hasson asked Rivlin to hold an emergency session about the rocket threat.
“Now, after Israel negotiated with Hamas, is the time to strike it and end its rule in Gaza,” he added. “Hamas is the biggest barrier to a peace settlement with the Palestinian Authority. Therefore, in light of the deterioration in the south as described above and the expansion of the scope of the rockets to even more communities in central Israel, the Knesset must hold an emergency meeting about the government’s conduct and on the response, or rather on the lack of response, to these threats.”

Liar, as if there were no hassam attacks before the Shalit deal?
#2, there still haven’t been an “hassam” attacks. The point is that there was a major lull in the attacks while Hamas was trying to negotiate the deal, and now that that incentive is gone they’re back to their old games.
