Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s infamous trip to Kentucky to watch the solar eclipse last August cost taxpayers $33,000 because the secretary traveled on a military aircraft rather than on a commercial flight, according to new travel documents.
The records, obtained by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), show that the government spent nearly $1 million for Mnuchin’s flights on military aircraft.
Mnuchin’s wife Louise Linton was criticized after she posted an Instagram photo of the couple descending from the plane, and referring to the fashion labels she was wearing. Read more at CREW.
