Moetzes of Agudah to Travel to US Due to Draft Crisis

agudas-yisroel-moetzesIn a decision reflecting the desperate nature of the crisis facing the Torah world of Eretz Yisroel, the members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel will be undertaking a trip to the United States to awaken the Diaspora Jewish community to the draft law gezeirah imperiling yeshiva bochurim and avreichim.

The trip was decided upon as the Moetzes of Agudah met in Yerushalayim yesterday.

The Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel HaTorah has signed a kol koreh together with the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel calling on the government to do away with the draft law and threats of incarceration, and asking Yidden to beseech Heaven for mercy.

Details of the Agudah Moetzes trip will be forthcoming.

  1. Shouldn’t they remain in Eretz Yisroel and wield their substantial influence there. Much of American Jewry, which includes the modern orthodox, conservative, and reform, consider serving in Israel’s army a holy service. That is the Mizrachi attitude. The right-wing anti-Zionists, together with the ultra-left-wing Jews seemingly would prefer that the State of Israel disintergrate and that Jews there live under the rule of Abbas and Hamas.

  2. Who are the members of the Moetzes? Will they all be coming to USA? Will Rav Shteinman, shlit”a, and Rav Kanievsky, shlit”a, both be coming?

  3. #2: No, R’ Shteinman are on the Moetzes of Degel HaTorah, not Agudah. The Moetzes of Agudah is made up mostly of Chassidish Rebbes, including from Ger, Vishnitz, Boston, Belz, and others.

  4. In response to comment #2, this is the Moetzes of Agudah, not Degel HaTorah. This is the Chasidic part of UTJ. That is why those in the photos above are various Chasidic Rebbes, such as (R-L) Modzitz, Vizhnitz (R. Mendel), Belz, Slonim, Ger, Sanz, Boyan, Sadigura.

Rav Steinman and Rav Kanievsky shlit”a are connected to Degel haTorah, which has its own moetzes.
