WHITEFISH, Mont. — As a sign of solidarity with Jewish residents, the Whitefish Police Department hung a mezuzah on the agency’s door, PoliceOne reports.

According to JPUpdates.com, Rabbi Adam Scheier requested Police Chief William Dial place the symbol of protection and faith in the Jewish culture on his office door on Jan. 18.

“He said, ‘No, I won’t put it on my office door. I want to put it in a more central location, where everyone will see it,’” Scheier wrote on Facebook. “So we put it outside a door that every police officer passes upon entering the station.”

The move comes in the wake of a series of incidents in the city, the publication reported.

In December, neo-Nazi website founder and editor Andrew Anglin called for an armed march “troll storm” in the town after Jewish activists allegedly pressured alt-right founder Richard Spencer’s mom to close one of her businesses.
