streimelMembers of Montreal’s frum community are shocked after a thief broke into a family’s home and stole some items of clothing. Two shtreimels and a bekeshe were stolen from the home of a family of five on the night of July 25.

“Instead of going for the valuables, they went specifically for the bekeshe and the two streimels. And that’s worrisome. Had they taken more articles, it wouldn’t have raised the suspicions that it did raise,” said community member Zvi Hershcovich.

Hershcovich said the items stolen has his fellow Jews scared about a possible attempt at infiltrating the community to do harm.

Alex Werzberger of the Coalition of Outremont said the theft was clearly well-planned, but doesn’t understand why someone would want to dress up in stolen clothes to enter a shul.

“I find, to my mind, the whole thing interesting in the least of things and odd. I don’t know why they need these garments,” he said.

  1. “Alex Werzberger of the Coalition of Outremont said the theft was clearly well-planned, but doesn’t understand why someone would want to dress up in stolen clothes to enter a shul”.

    Well Alex, really?

  2. Is this Alex Werzberger for real?? He doesn’t understand why someone would want to dress up like a frum person in a city that just had anti-Jew demonstrations? The quote from Zvi Hershcovich spells out EXACTLY why someone would want to dress up like a frum yid….H-Shem Yishmor.

  3. What’s with all these conspiracy’s? It was probably an Uni who nebach had to resort to theft in order to get those Shabbos items. If some of these ashirim would get off their high horse and take notice of the less fortunate, then maybe we wouldn’t have such problems. Just a thought.

  4. Uh, does no one recall the Palterror video Matzav showed a few months ago, of terrorists dressed up as Hasidim; and also implied that the Jews could be easily duped (and despatched)?

Send a copy to the Kehillah, Matzav.

  5. probably a muslim wants to attack… very scary! how is one supposed to tell if someone who dresses looks authentic???
hashemm yerachem veyishmor es amoi mikol roh…..
