Working with the Committee for Public Purity and city mayors, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri has enhanced the standards of Israel’s kosher beaches and set up new beaches for the religious public.
Many of the beaches were problematic. A sandy hill at the Kinneret Lake’s Kinar beach, which once ran into the water and provided privacy, was left high and dry by receding water, and partitions of the Chamei Zohar Beach at the Dead Sea were not high enough. In Chadera, partitions were breached on both sides. Little parking space was available at Ashdod’s kosher beach.
“I emphasized that all the repairs must be completed by so that the religious public can enjoy the separate beaches from the beginning of bein hazmanim,” Deri said, who followed through on his word.
