Mr. Sol Kest z”l
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mr. Sol Kest z”l, noted baal chessed and philanthropist in the Los Angeles community. Mr. Kest, together with his wife, Mrs. Clara Kest a”h, devoted his life to the Jewish community and its Torah organizations.
At the levaya, held today in Los Angeles, the speakers extolled the warmth and kindness of Mr. Kest, describing his support of many Torah institutions in Los Angeles and beyond, as well as and his and his wife’s undertakings to ensure that their children received a proper Jewish education.
Supporting Torah institutions and the furtherance of Torah learning was paramount to Mr. Kest throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Michael Kest, Benny Kest, Ezra Kest and Mrs. Berkowitz, wife of Isaac Berkowitz, and grandchildren following in his ways.

He was a wonderful friend and neighbor, always kind, exceptionally witty, modest, and wise. He was truly a pleasure to be around. My children looked forward to seeing him on Shabbos. We will miss him.

Mr. Kest, as I always addressed him out of respect, was oh so good to me in a time of my life when I needed someone with as big a heart as he had. He gave and gave from that big beautiful heart of his and he never asked for anything back. He was the meinsch in my life.
